A Three Day Christmas Break in the forest of dean
A traditional British Christmas in our cosy Hunting Lodge. Nestled in the middle of the Forest of Dean, Gloucestershire, you will be surrounded by a magical looking forest and stunning scenery. You’ll enjoy a warm welcome and friendly atmosphere coupled with superb food, a large dash of merriment, and plenty of entertainment.
Christmas 2024 will be a traditional affair, with delicious local produce and recipes from around the Forest of Dean and Wye Valley. Our Christmas hotel break package includes some light entertainment, designed to keep you active but not too busy. We encourage you to relax and enjoy your time with us.
Our three day Christmas package starts early evening on Christmas Eve and comes to a close after breakfast on 27th December. It includes all your festive meals, accommodation, activities and entertainment from dinner from the 24th December, all the way up until checkout on the 27th December.
Christmas Eve, TUESDAY 24th December
Arrive at your leisure, relax and enjoy the surrounding area.
Check in to the hotel and get comfortable in your room from 2pm onwards.
Join us in the Orangery at 6.30pm for a welcome drink and nibbles before dinner.
The Lydbrook Silver Band will play carols around the Christmas tree before dinner is served at 7.30pm.
After dinner we will accompany you to midnight mass at a local church, with a dram of whiskey to warm you up on your return to the hotel.
Christmas Day – Wednesday 25th
Wake up to a hearty traditional English breakfast
Join us for a guided gentle walk through the forest from 10am, returning in time for drinks and canapes at 12 noon.
This will be followed by a three course Christmas Day lunch at 12.30pm.
After lunch, retire to watch the King’s Speech, in our residents’ lounge. This room is situated on the first floor and here you will find board games, books and magazines to while away the rest of the afternoon.
Later, if you have room, tea and traditional Christmas cake will be served.
A light evening buffet will be served at 8.00pm, followed by The Speech House Christmas quiz. (with prizes!)
Boxing Day – Thursday 26th December
Rise at your leisure and enjoy breakfast, before heading out with us on a guided stroll in the Forest to work up an appetite for a tasty light lunch.
Canapes and a welcome drink from 7pm
Dinner will be served at 7.30pm
Entertainment after dinner to keep you on your toes until you’re ready to retire to slumber.
Wednesday 27th December
Sadly, this is the day we would say Goodbye. Enjoy a final breakfast before checking out by 10.30am.
This doesn’t have to be the end – you could extend your stay and relax for a few more days, taking advantage of our special rates for those on the Christmas Package.
Stay with us a bit longer?
For guests who want a longer festive break and arrive earlier, add some more nights to your Christmas break. Arrive from the 22nd December, or choose to stay on after Christmas. The same great price will apply, from just £105 DBB per person. This includes your accommodation, breakfast and a three course evening meal. Go on spoil yourself, it’s Christmas after all!
