Whether you’re staying with us, stopping after a walk through the ancient forest, or making a special occasion of it – you’ll find a comfortable seat at The Speech House, and a kitchen that’s glad you came.

We’re a family-run hotel in the heart of the Royal Forest of Dean, and everything that ends up on your plate starts with locally sourced, seasonally led food, cooked with genuine care. From a lazy morning brunch with James Gourmet coffee to an evening menu that’ll surprise you.

Along the way there’s lunch, our much-loved Afternoon Tea with fine bone china, local ales from Kingstone Brewery, ciders from Just Pressed, and Silver Circle gins distilled just down the road.

We hold 2 AA Rosettes for our cooking – not that we make a big deal of it, from our warm and friendly atmosphere. Pull up a chair in the bright and airy Orangery, or settle into the Hunters Bar; a characterful room steeped in the history of the Forest of Dean, its walls lined with photographs and stories that stretch back centuries. Either way, come as you are.

Children welcome. Dogs welcome. Vegan, vegetarian and gluten-free options throughout the menus.
